May 13, 1917-Jan. 6, 2015

Lewis Gregson Porteous passed away on January 6, 2015. He was born in 1917 and grew up on a small ranch in Hazen, Nevada. He graduated in engineering from the University of Nevada where he met his wife, Wilma Foote. They were married for 71 years until her death in 2012. Throughout WWII, he worked for the US Navy repairing ships damaged in the Pacific. Subsequently, he worked for the Air Force in the installation of radar stations on the West Coast. He then worked for the Naval Radiation Defense Laboratory and completed his career with the EPA. Upon retiring, Lewis and Wilma moved to their 12 acres overlooking Lake Berryessa. Lewis loved working on a small “ranch” once again. He built houses, bulldozed roads, planted trees, had two horses and loved being outside. Lewis is survived by 5 children, Lynette, Sharon, Gregson, Lawrence and Leland, as well as 8 grand-children and 3 great-grand children. Lewis worked hard all his life for his family. He was known for his keen mind, great stories, and ability to fix anything. He will be missed by all who knew him.
