SACRAMENTO — Nolan Shine and Brady Rivera were the only Carson High wrestlers to post undefeated records on the first day of the Brown Invitational Friday.

Shine (160) and Rivera (220) both posted 2-0 records.

Three other wrestlers — Brandon Basa (113), Spencer Rogers (126) and heavyweight Sheldon Miller — are all still alive with 2-1 records.

“We have five guys still going,” CHS coach Paul Carter said. “We’re not at full strength because Brady O’Keefe wasn’t able to wrestle, and I think he would have advanced if he was healthy. Depending on what happens in the morning matches, I think all five have a good chance to place.”

Terin Keller (106) went 2-2, Casey Stevens went 0-2 at 120, Nathan Mersino went 0-2 at 132, Hector Perez went 1-2 at 145, Jarod Butler went 1-2 at 152, Abel Carter went 1-2 at 170, Connor Sievers went 2-2 at 182 and Corey Jasper went 1-2 at 195.
