Henry Heidt was born on April 5, 1949 in Hettinger, ND to Christ and Ida Heidt. He attended schools in Haynes and Hettinger, graduating in 1967. After graduation, he joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Oklahoma City for almost 2 years during the Vietnam War. On October 3, 1970 he married Bonnie Carroll and to this union two children were born; Shannon (Shane) Frazer and Christopher (Gina). Henry worked many jobs over the years and always loved fixing things and helping others. He was loyal to everyone he knew and had a great sense of humor almost to the end. His greatest joy was the outdoors especially camping with family and friends and riding the ATV on the back roads of Nevada. He was proud that he could follow in his Dad’s footsteps and make homemade German sausage and “redeye” which he was happy to share with everyone. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, children, Shannon and Shane and Chris and Gina, grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, Ashlyn, Jacob, Mollie and Robbey and sisters, Irene Braun (Tom) and Ann Fanton (Phil) as well as numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Elmer, his in-laws, Vern and Doris Carroll, 2 brothers-in-law, Larry and Jim and niece, Becky. He passed away on January 17, 2015 in his home following a long illness, surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held at FitzHenry’s Funeral home in Carson City on Saturday, January 24, 12:00 pm. A ceremonial honor guard will follow the services.
