USAF Band to perform in Carson City

Mayor Robert Crowell, representing the City of Carson City, and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce is collaborating to bring the United States Air Force Band of Washington D.C. to the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center for a free concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4.

“Carson City is proud to sponsor the first-ever performance of the United States Air Force Band for a free concert in our community on March 4,” Crowell said. “This event, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, will also feature the Carson High School Band that will join the Air Force band in presenting a performance you will not want to miss.”

Featured will be the USAF Concert Band and the Singing Sergeants, stationed at Bolling Field outside of Washington D.C., along with some Carson High Band students.

The band, first assembled in 1941 and today, performs all over the United States. Comprised of 53 active duty Airmen musicians and 23 Singing Sergeants, it performs a wide variety of musical styles, from light classics, popular favorites and instrumental features, to classical transcriptions and original works

The USAF Band website states, “The Concert Band honors those who have served, inspires American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and positively impacts the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States. The excellence demonstrated by these Airmen musicians is a reflection of the excellence displayed by Airmen stationed around the globe. Each member is proud to represent all Airmen, whose selfless service and sacrifices ensure the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of the United States of America.”

Tickets will be available, beginning on Monday, Feb. 2 from the Chamber of Commerce. Only about 750 tickets are available. Those wishing to attend must pick up the tickets in person at 1900 S. Carson Street. No more than 4 tickets per couple will be allowed. Tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis and there will be no assigned seating.
