A New Bank Building. The directors of Churchill County Bank decide on a modern structure. The stability of a town and the community is judged very largely by its banking institutions, and in this Fallon and the Lahontan Valley will take a forward step, as the Churchill County Bank directors at their annual meeting decided to set aside a special fund for the purpose of erecting a handsome and permanent building to be exclusively a bank building, to cost approximately $40,000. As the new structure is to be distinctively a bank building, it will be one story and will stand out as a massive structure of reinforced concrete.

Second Class Matter. ●The most witless man of all is the man who thinks he is a wit. ●The man who never advertises is like a rusty nail. He’s headed for the discard. ●Take your business smile home to your family and you will soon forget to be a grouch. ●If the hoof and mouth disease, preferably the mouth, could fasten itself upon soe of our professional spellbinders the country would be signally blessed. ●Those Nevada farmers who have invested in a few sheep ought to be happy with ewes selling at $8 a head, with a prospect of reaching $10 before spring.

Sixteen Secure Benefit Checks. Sixteen unemployed workers in the state of Nevada got a concrete lesson in how unemployment compensation works when they received their first benefit checks under the state law this week. The average initial amount of the initial checks was for $12.25 with several of the unemployed workers getting the $15 maximum.

Like Flower School. There has been an average attendance of 27 at the six lessons on home beautification and flower culture given at the high school. The lesson next week will be given by Mrs. L. C. Schank on the selection nd growing of annual flowering plants, with a film strip to be shown.

Fallon Man’s Song to be Broadcasted. Fallon friends of J. E. Coy, well known carpenter contractor, may soon have an opportunity of listening in on a broadcast of a new song, “Nevada Blues”, written and copyrighted by the local man.

South Americans Touring Fallon Industries. The Churchill County Economic Development Committee hosted a Peruvian group which visited Fallon as a part of their tour of developing industrial areas of the United States. The group hopes to learn methods of organization and management techniques in the U. S. to better their country.

Former Fallon Men Write Movie. Two men, former Fallon residents, wrote the script for the motion picture that is now playing at the Fallon Theatre. David Hewitt and Ib Melchior wrote the story and the script for “The Time Travelers”.

Tree Distribution Program in Full Operation. Charlie York, County Agent, has received word from Jack Christner of the Nevada Division of Forestry that the Windbreak Tree Distribution program is in full operation in spite of the damage caused by the Truckee River flooding during December.
