Blue Jays drop twoat Reno tournament

RENO — Carson lost 5-2 to NorCal and 7-6 to the Boise Seminoles at the second day of the Reno Knights July 4th Invitational at Wooster High School.

Carson is 0-3 in the tournament, and will play Toyota of Seattle at 10 a.m. today at Damonte and then play the Sun Devils at 3 at Wooster.

Against Boise, Carson grabbed an early 2-0 lead on run-scoring singles by Kyle Krebs and Bryce Moyle. Carson went ahead 5-4 in the top of the sixth with two runs, one coming on a single by Cody Azevedo.

Boise tied the game in the sixth, sending it into extra innings. Carson scored once in the top of the eighth, but Boise nicked Jared Barnard for two in the bottom of the inning to win it.

Connor Pradere, Azevedo, Krebs and Joe Nelson all had two hits.

Against NorCal, Carson grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third on run-scoring hits by Krebs and Nelson. NorCal scored one in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the seventh, all against Moyle, to grab the win.

Azevedo, Krebs, Nelson and Terek Been all had two hits for Carson. Moyle struck out 11 in six innings.
