A Lyon County woman was arrested Wednesday in connection with a fire that destroyed a Silver Springs home.

Susan McInnes was arrested on suspicion of first degree arson after the fire department was dispatched to a structure fire at 3:45 p.m. at the 1400 block of Fifth Street in Silver Springs. By the time fire crews arrived, the fire had engulfed 90 percent of the 1,500 square foot structure, but the fire was extinguished without further incident and no one was injured.

Sheriff Al McNeil said that investigation ruled out natural causes for starting the fire and suspected arson was the cause of the blaze. McInnes lived in the house that was set on fire.

The fire is still under investigation by the Nevada State Fire Marshall’s Office.
