Court’s decision on health care was wrong
Obamacare has it backward. Health care should be an individual and family responsibility. Yet, after starting off on the right foot by making health insurance available on a guaranteed issue basis, Obamacare goes off in the opposite direction and does what it can to make employers responsible for managing individual and family health care as if we folk can’t be trusted to take care of this ourselves. This is nonsense.
For a time it looked like a mistake written into Obamacare legislation would force open the door for a much needed rewrite. Now that the Supreme Court has essentially ruled in King v. Burwell that an administration’s “good intentions” trump the rule of law, this is unfortunately no longer so likely. The court has made a bad decision. It will come back to haunt us as a destructive precedent.
