Assembly OKs voting age bill

The Assembly, by a 29-13 vote, today passed a resolution proposing amendment of the Nevada Constitution to lower the legal voting age 21 to 19.

The Assembly two weeks ago defeated the same measure, which at that time called for lowering the voting age to 18. It now goes to the Senate.

Voting against the resolution were Bastain, Blum, Boak, Capurro, Folsom, Carville, Francovich, McCuistion, Humphrey, Ogee, Roundtree, Swackhamer, and Whiteacre.

The Assembly Fish and Game Committee introduced a bill which would do the following:

Eliminate free hunting and fishing licenses for persons over 60.

Increase non-resident fishing licenses from $5 to $6, five-day non-resident fishing permits from $3 to $3.50, and non-resident hunting licenses from $10 to $15.

Authorize state fish and game commission to enter into agreement with adjourning states for big-game herd management and reciprocal fishing license privileges.
