Salvation Army collecting school supplies for disadvantaged students

The Salvation Army is collecting backpacks and school supplies for disadvantaged children through Aug. 13.

Items needed include: backpacks, pencils, pens, scissors, pencil sharpeners, pencil pouches, paper, note books, composite books, glues sticks, crayons/markers and highlighters. All donations go to children from Carson City School District, Silver State Charter School, and Douglas County School District. To help, go to one of the following businesses and take a paper apple from a Salvation Army Apple Tree, which lists children’s wishes, and drop donations to the Salvation Army, 661 Colorado St., before Aug. 13.
