Each year Carson City Soroptimist gathers hundreds of new backpacks, filling each with school and hygiene supplies, which are given to local elementary, middle, and high schools as needed.
To help, bring new backpacks, supplies, or money to Platinum Salon & Spa, 716 N. Carson St.; Edward Jones Investments, 412 E. Musser St., Suite 1; Carson City Toyota-Scion, 2590 S. Carson St.; or Marilyn Lewis State Farm Insurance, 321 W. Winnie Lane, Suite 106. In Minden, donations can be dropped at Wells Fargo Advisors, 1645 Highway 395, Suite A. The deadline to donate is Friday, Aug. 7.
