Carson City Silver Dollar Car Classic kicks off with street dance July 31

Cruise season is well underway in Carson City, with shows held Thursday evenings leading up to the Silver Dollar Car Classic July 31-Aug. 2.

The Thursday evening shows attract anywhere from 40-80 cars and are open to all makes and models.

Shows are from 5 to 8 p.m. weekly at local businesses. Remaining shows will be at Concours Auto Parts, 3655 Arrowhead Drive, Suite 120, on July 23; and Plaza Conference Center, 801 S. Carson St. on July 30.

A street dance and show and shine with Route 66 from 6 to 10 p.m. July 31 at Carson Station will kick off the Silver Dollar Car Classic weekend.

Events on Saturday, Aug. 1, include a Kiwanis pancake breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m., followed by registration from 8 to 10:30 a.m. in Mills Park. The show and shine with music and vendors will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with judging from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday, Aug. 2, with a Kiwanis pancake breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a poker run from 8 a.m. to noon. Barbecue food will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Awards will be at 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
