FCTA approves supportive grants

The Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority recently approved two grants at its regularly scheduled meeting.

Approved the $2,000 grant for the No Hill 100 Century Bike Tour in October. The bike tour is a regionally known cycling event that brings in people from the western region of the country to ride around the Fallon/Churchill County area. This event is well known in the cycling community as an event to peak interest in cycling for beginners and advanced riders alike. The event attracts competitive cyclists to the Fallon area. The event is a one-day cycling event that is a “tour” of the area allowing riders to challenge themselves in 30, 60 or 100-mile routes.

Approved the $4,000 grant for the Silver Buckle Horse Sale which is designed to draw buyers and spectators from Northern Nevada, California, Oregon, Utah and surrounding states. The sale is one of the premier destination sales in the western United States. It sells approximately 50 top produced AQHA weanlings and 50 started and finished riding horses that are all born and raised in Fallon. It sale also host a rodeo that attracts both participants and spectator from all over the West.
