‘Pillowcase’ burglary ring case arrives in Douglas

One of the men implicated in the tri-county “Pillowcase” burglary ring broken up earlier this year in Carson City appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Wednesday.

Travis Luke Lieberwirth, 37, is facing charges in Douglas, Carson City and Washoe County in connection with several burglaries in all three jurisdictions.

Attorney Derrick Lopez said Lieberwirth is seeking a global resolution for the charges.

He’s being held in Douglas County on $100,000 bail and a warrant out of Washoe County on a $120,000 warrant.

He was transferred to Douglas County on July 14 from Carson City where his case was in district court.

Lieberwirth, Brian Madsen, 34, Crystal Bullock, 31, Rachel Strull, 28, Tracey Lee Lock, 40, and Drake Van Cleave, 50, were arrested in February. The group is accused of being involved in up to 30 different burglaries, including at least three in Douglas County. In two of those burglaries, the perpetrators loaded jewelry and valuables into pillowcases, hence the name.

Lieberwirth is scheduled to return to East Fork Justice Court next week.

■ A Gardnerville Ranchos woman waived her preliminary hearing in justice court and would go forward to Douglas County District Court, her attorney said Wednesday.

In a plea negotiation, Maureen Ross, 49, will plead guilty to a charge related to the theft of narcotics from another person’s home in exchange for a recommendation of probation.

Ross participated in a drug diversion program after a 2011 conviction in a similar incident. She was released on her own recognizance and ordered to appear in Douglas County District Court on Aug. 18.

■ Prosecutors are seeking more time to file charges in an incident in which a Gardnerville Ranchos man is accused of breaking a woman’s arm.

Mariano Aguon Mesa, 43, was released on his own recognizance on Wednesday. He was ordered back in court on Aug. 12. He’s under the supervision of the Department of Alternative Sentencing.

■ A Gardnerville man was released on his promise to return on Aug. 15 to do a 60-day jail sentence for petit theft.

Gregg Dolgin, 53, said he was taking food for his daughter when he walked out of the Walmart with a cart full of groceries.

Dolgin asked if he could do his jail time after his daughter had her baby.

■ A Carson City man who used a rock to break a window at the Target said he was angry at a few people.

Michael Shawn Daggett, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of destruction of property. In exchange for his plea, Daggett will receive a suspended 30-day jail sentence and has to pay for the window.
