Hendrix’s take 9th at nationals

Caleb and Cord Hendrix cracked the top 10 at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., this month.

The brothers finished ninth in the short go in team roping with a time of 14.37 seconds. The Hendrix’s also finished ninth in the average with a mark of 37.35.

Cord Hendrix also tied for 15th in bull riding with 74 points, while Caleb Hendrix took 19th in the cutting average with 289 points.

In addition, Cord Hendrix finished eighth in the all-around cowboy standings with 510 points, while Caleb Hendrix was ninth with 500.

The Hendrix’s first go in team roping ended in 9.71 seconds, good enough for fourth place and put them in 27th place overall after the sixth performance.

Cord Hendrix also sat in seventh-place after his first run in cutting with 129 and 61st overall, while Caleb Hendrix was 11th overall with 144.

Fellow Fallon team roper Jes Tews and partner Dominic Ceresola of Fernley took fifth in the seventh performance with a time of 12.99. The duo returned for another solid run in the nightcap to put them in 49th-place in the average after their run, although the pair stood in 18th overall in the second go.

The Hendrix’s second team roping run, meanwhile, produced a seventh-place finish in 13.27 seconds.

Tews and Ceresola finished the second go in 39th place. The duo, though, did not qualify for the finals as they missed the steer in their first go.

Mackay Spyrow and Jordan Taylor of Moapa, meanwhile, also roped one of two steers. The pair missed the steer in the first go, but rebounded with a time of 8.97 in their second go.
