A Carson City woman will have to serve another 12-30 months in prison after being sentenced for possession of a controlled substance in connection with three drug buys.

Angela J. Moen, 26, portrayed herself as being an unwitting accomplice in her boyfriend, Christopher Bechtold’s drug business.

“I made a series of terrible mistakes last year,” she told District Judge Tom Gregory. “I followed him and did whatever he did. We were using drugs.”

Moen is serving a 12-30-month prison sentence after being convicted of possession of a controlled substance in Carson City. Defense attorney Jamie Henry said Moen had heroin on her person in the jail after she was arrested on a bail violation.

She was sentenced in Carson City on Feb. 10. Because of the Carson City sentence she was not eligible for probation.

Moen admitted she handed a bag of candy to someone that allegedly contained heroin. Henry said Moen had some idea of what was going on.

Bechtold, 28, is serving up to five years for the same drug deals in which 20 balloons of heroin changed hands. He was sentenced on Sept. 15, 2014, for sales of a controlled substance. The transactions occurred in May 2014.
