The first free in-the-park concert of the summer will present Jeffrey Broussard & the Creole Cowboys on June 20.

The performance will be on the Centennial Stage in Oats Park in front of the Art Center and will start at 7:30 p.m.

It will be a great opportunity to get together with family and friends, maybe put together a picnic supper and enjoy an evening of good time Cajun/Zydeco music under the stars.

There will also be food and beverage available for purchase from the Fallon Youth Club. For more information on the show, you can call Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440.

Broussard has been acclaimed as one of the most respected and influential accordionists in the Zydeco world. Cajun/Zydeco music can trace its roots back to a blend of African, European and Caribbean musical traditions and it’s a rollicking blend.

He’s performed at fairs, festivals and other venues across the country including a critically acclaimed performance with the Elisa Monte Dance company at the Joyce Theater in New York City. He’s also been featured on the popular NPR/PBS series “American Routes” with Nick Spitzer.

Broussard adds a little R & B into the traditional dance music to create a more contemporary, swinging sound and it’s the perfect blend of sounds for a summer evening.

There will also be a lot going on in the park that day with the Live Local Fallon BBQ and Grand Prize Drawing. Events are scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. and will include free hotdogs, ice cream, bounce houses and swimming.

A drawing for prizes from the Live Local Fallon prize catalog will feature a number of items including a wood pellet grill from Louie’s Home Center, a Big 5 hunting package, a desktop computer from CC Communications, a storage shed from Kent’s Supply Center and many other items.

For information on Live Local activities or other events, call 775-423-4556.
