SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, is gearing up for its 3rd Annual Hot August Nights auction, held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Aug., 6-8.

After listening to fans, Barrett-Jackson has adjusted its hours to feature the auction during the day so that fans may attend other Hot August Nights events in the evening. The auction will be featured on live, high-definition TV on Discovery and Velocity. The Barrett-Jackson Cup competition will also return with the hobby’s largest purse of over $100,000 in cash and prizes.

“We’re thrilled to bring our collector car auction back to Reno Tahoe for the third year,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Part of the excitement we bring there is the Barrett-Jackson Cup, honoring the finest customs with the largest cash and prize purse of any collector car competition in the world. Our partnership with Discovery and Velocity also puts these incredibly restored customs in front of millions of viewers.”

In addition to many of the hottest customs, classics and late-model consignments, the Barrett-Jackson auction and Hot August Nights will deliver an exciting week of activities for the whole family. Hot August Nights draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to northern Nevada, providing them the opportunity to participate in organized cruises, drag races, Show-n-Shines, concerts and more. Among the most anticipated attractions will be the Barrett-Jackson Cup, offering over $100,000 in cash and prizes.

“Our 2014 Barrett-Jackson Cup brought new levels of prominence,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “We not only enjoyed an incredible number of entries last year, but our finalists included customs that were Goodguys, AMBR and Ridler award winners. I have no doubt this year’s Barrett-Jackson Cup entries will set an even higher bar among custom car competitions and increase the profile of the Barrett-Jackson Cup among enthusiasts.”

Three notable consignments for the Barrett-Jackson Reno Tahoe auction include an all-steel, fully streetable ’34 Ford Roadster. With a 6-71 blown Chrysler HEMI engine boasting approximately 600 horsepower, it is affectionately named “Mellow Yellow,” reminiscent of Donovan’s hit ’60s song. Also destined for the block is a ’61 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 built in the Los Angeles Van Nuys plant. It features a full frame-off restoration with an engine that boasts 360 horsepower. MOPAR fans will want to bid on a Bumble Bee Yellow ’69 Plymouth Road Runner with only 2,227 miles on a rebuilt 393ci big block.

Consignments for the 3rd Annual Hot August Nights Auction are still being accepted. With an entry fee of $750, Reserve and No Reserve options are available.
