A 12-year-old girl was injured Wednesday afternoon when a Dodge Durango SUV hit her on her bicycle on East Stillwater Avenue.

According to the Fallon Police Department, the girl was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The rainy weather grounded Care Flight from transporting her.

Capt. Ron Wenger of the Fallon Police Department said the preliminary investigation shows the girls was riding her bike on the south sidewalk of Stillwater Avenue heading east. He said for some unknown reason, she left the sidewalk and turned into the street between several cars at a driveway. Wenger said the SUV, driven by Tarin Jones, 28, of Fallon, then hit the girl. He said the accident occurred “quickly.”

“The driver made the 911 call,” Wenger said. “She was also very cooperative but very shaken up.”

The Nevada Highway Patrol was also on the scene reconstructing the accident. Wenger said FPD has not received those results.

Furthermore, Wenger said the FPD has talked with the girl’s mother, who is in Reno with her daughter. Wenger said the mother told FPD that her daughter suffered fractures to the neck, hip, femur and foot. FPD is withholding the girl’s name as requested by the family.

Wenger said the accident is under investigation pending the NHP report.
