The Carson Blue Jays scored six times in the fifth inning to snap a 1-all tie and go on to beat the Galena Cubs, 8-1, Wednesday night in a summer league baseball game at Ron McNutt Field.

Carson hosts the Reno A’s tonight at 7 and then visit the Spanish Springs Bandits Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Jared Barnard struck out nine and allowed just three hits in his five-inning stint to pick up the win. Carson has won six straight games.

Carson took a 1-0 lead in the second when John Holton singled and came around to score on Jace Keema’s single. Galena tied the game in the fifth, setting the stage for the Blue Jays’ explosion in the bottom of the fifth.

Joe Nelson (3-for-4) doubled in a run, Keema had a sacrifice fly, Terek Been singled in a run, Jesse Lopez walked with the bases loaded to force in a run and Connor Pradere singled in a run.

Besides three hits from Nelson, Carson got two from Pradere.
