Ross J. Stevens, 78, of Gardnerville, NV, passed away at home surrounded by his adoring family. He was born in Hollywood, CA and raised in San Pedro, CA, graduating from San Pedro High School and Harbor Jr. College, and subsequently honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1962. He then joined the Los Angeles City Fire Department and moved his family to Thousand Oaks in 1972. He retired in 1984 after 22 years of service, and was the owner of two businesses, Stevens Trucking and Topaz Lake RV Park, eventually owned and operated by each of his children. He spent the last 14 years of his life in true retirement in Gardnerville, NV. Ross is survived by his wife, Gail, of 55 years; son, Brent (Debbie) Stevens; grand-daughter, Megan; daughter, Julie (David) Hurley; sister, Dariel Johnson, and many more family members. He was preceded in his passing by his brother, Bill Stevens. Ross lived a quiet and successful life with his only purpose to be a great husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and patriarch to the entire extended “Stevens Nation,” to which he succeeded. He didn’t like the spotlight shone on himself, yet his gentle, kind, humble and giving ways to family, friends and strangers alike only brought him more attention than a spotlight ever could. He was a legendary waterskier, Mr. Fix-Anything, Build-Anything or Drive-Anything, and Man-who-would-never-say-”No.” Words cannot adequately express how we will miss our “Gentle Giant.” Memorial service to be held in Thousand Oaks on March 28, 2015.
