Career-minded people who are seeking skills in electronics technology are in luck. Western Nevada College in Carson City will offer two short Electronics Technology classes in March and April. The four-week, two-unit Electronics Projects courses will each focus on developing soldering skills.

Students can learn through-hole and surface-mount soldering techniques using hands-on practice.

ET 200, which focuses on through-hole soldering, is offered March 23 through April 17.

Students can gain surface-mount soldering skills in a two-unit ET 200 class that meets April 20 to May 15.

Both classes will meet from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Mondays in the Reynolds Center for Technology, Room 108.

Students will receive hands-on practice with Thermo-Jet tools and learn techniques for surface-mount soldering. Class study materials and resources are available by accessing WNC Online (Canvas).

ET 200 through-hole soldering class is a prerequisite for the second course, unless the student receives prior consent from the instructor to otherwise attend the class.

Larry Hawkins will teach both classes, and additional lab hours will be available to students for skill development. Each class requires a $50 lab fee.
