The Retired Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP, is hosting an evening of comic relief with local comedienne Kat Simmons at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St.

Proceeds from the event further RSVP’s mission to help seniors with volunteer-based programs such as escorted transportation, companions for the homebound, respite visits for in-home caregivers and free coupons to local farmers markets for low-income seniors.

“If you haven’t had a chance to experience one of Kat Simmons’ comedy shows, please take advantage of this opportunity and join us,” said Susan Haas, executive director and CEO of Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program, Inc. “If you have seen her before, then you know that you are in for a treat. This event is sponsored by Café at Adele’s in order to help provide our local seniors and persons with disabilities with free services needed to keep them living independently.”

Simmons has been applauded for her “clean, conscious, connected comedy,” and she has appeared with Tim Allen, Kevin Nealon, Zig Ziglar and others in her 27-year career. She appears regularly in Northern Nevada.

Tickets are $30 for the main hall and $25 for balcony seats and are available at the RSVP office, the Artisan store at the Brewery Arts Center and online at www.breweryarts.org.

Tickets include appetizers from Foodies Bystro beginning at 5:30 p.m. A no-host beverage bar will be available.

RSVP helps homebound, and low-income seniors remain independent by providing programs that allow them to stay in their homes. It also coordinates a volunteer network of seniors who use their skills and talents to provide support to community agencies.
