Two injured after plane crashes near Dayton High School

A pilot and passenger were injured Sunday afternoon when the plane they were in lost power and crashed near Dayton High School.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said the plane lost power over Mound House and tried to return to the Dayton airport. The pilot glided the aircraft to an attempt and emergency landing on a BLM field when it overturned up landing at 4:10 p.m.

The pilot and passenger were taken to Renown Medical Center with minor injuries.

The National Traffic Safety Board is investigating.
