Taste, judge and enjoy the fourth annual Carson City Beer and Pizza Championships on Saturday, April 25 in the Carson Mall.

Craft beer brewers and microbreweries, 16 in all, will offer their top selections to attendees as they compete for several awards during the championships.

What goes better with fine beers than pizza? So there’s plenty of great pizza and other refreshments served also.

Live blues music from the Schall Adams Band, a silent auction and chances to win wheelbarrows of wine and beer and an historic Boston vacation that includes the Samuel Adams brewery also take place during the event.

The championships are hosted by the Rotary Club of Carson City and High Sierra Brewing Company, and are the Rotary Club’s major fundraising event each year. Proceeds support local scholarships, charity organizations and other Rotary-vetted community needs.

“People really enjoyed this event the last three years, and we have even more breweries coming this year. Tickets sales are pretty exciting so far,” said Anne Hansen, Rotary Club president.

The brewers attending are Alaskan, Great Basin, Lost Coast, Tonopah Brewing, Samuel Adams, Lake Tahoe, High Sierra, 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Ninkasi, Goose Island, Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas, Brewers Cabinet, Stoney Head, Pigeon Head and the Brewing Lair.

Tickets are only $45 each, and are available from any Carson City Rotary member or by calling 315-0141.

The Rotary Club of Carson City meets every Tuesday at noon at the Carson Nugget in downtown Carson City. The Rotary Club meeting offers a chance for members to socialize, network and plan service activities based on local needs. It also hears from outstanding speakers and enhance its knowledge of its community and the world.
