Eunice Elizabeth (McCarthy) DuCharme

Eunice Elizabeth (McCarthy) DuCharme, a 55-year Nevadan, died peacefully March 17 in Reno, following a brief illness. Eunice raised three children in Las Vegas with her husband Roger before moving to Carson City in 1972 so her husband could help open the Ormsby House, and then co-manage the Hardman House. They remained in Carson City until the late-80s, when they returned to southern Nevada. She is survived by her children: Donna DuCharme of Reno, Doug DuCharme (Judy Howell DuCharme) of Las Vegas and Darlene DuCharme of Sonoma, California; four grandchildren: Dennis DuCharme (Natalie) of Las Vegas, Desiree Romero (Anthony) of Las Vegas, Natasha Bourlin (Chris Christiansen) of Reno, Sarah Bell of Sonoma and great-granddaughter Marissa Romero. Eunice is preceded in death by her husband Roger and grandchild Adara Myette DuCharme-Bell. Eunice accompanied her politically active husband to many high-profile events such as the 1969 Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C., the 1968 Republican National Convention, and local hotel openings, for which she appeared on the front page of the Las Vegas newspaper with Nevada dignitaries. She loved to play the slots, share stories with her family, and listen to music. Her final years were spent in Reno near her family. Befitting her Irish-American heritage, she passed away on St Patrick’s Day, her favorite holiday.
