Helen V. Sikes of Fallon, Nevada, departed this life February 12, 2015, at Banner Churchill Community Hospital. Born March 14, 1920, in Centerville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Elmer Ellsworth Gray and Lillie May Davis Gray. In 1939 she moved to southern California to be with her sister Ruby whose husband was at sea in the US Navy. During WWII she moved to Torrance and worked for National Supply, a manufacturer of guns and airplane parts, as a timekeeper. Helen and Ray Sleppy were married in 1946. Moving from Torrance to Northern California in 1955 they owned and operated businesses in Los Molinos, Red Bluff, and Manton. She married Neal Sikes in 1972, moving soon after to McArthur, California. There she enjoyed living in the rural community and worked as a volunteer for several organizations including many years in the Mayers Memorial Hospital gift shop. She also became a proud member of the lineage society Daughters of the American Revolution. Helen joined her daughter’s family in Fallon, Nevada, in 2013. She was honored and respected by her family and enjoyed a very active life with friends and those she loved for ninety five years. She will be greatly missed. Helen is survived by daughter Ginger Sleppy Urquhart, son-in-law Dan Urquhart, grandchildren Kris Urquhart, Mrs. Shannon Vaught, Mrs. Amanda Brock, great-grandchildren Colton, Brody, and Allison Urquhart. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Ruby DeZorzi and Eugene Gray. Arrangements by Smith Family Funeral Home-Fallon.
