Carson City gardening seminars offered this month

Five gardening seminars are being offered this month at Greenhouse Garden Center, 2450 S. Curry St.

David Ruf, the nursery’s owner, will talk about square foot gardening and using Smart Pots at 9 a.m. Saturday. The presentation includes information about how to garden with less work, less weeding and less water.

Ruf will talk and answer questions about all aspects of composting at 5:30 p.m. May 6.

Elona Lathrop, a rosarian at Greenhouse Garden Center, will present All About Roses in Northern Nevada at 9 a.m. May 9.

Ruf will talk about how to grow the best tomatoes and peppers at 9 a.m. May 16.

Lathrop will talk about how gardeners can attract bird to their yards at 9 a.m. May 23.

Designing edible containers will be the topic of Ruf’s presentation at 9 a.m. May 30.

The seminars cost $2 each, a fee that supports area food banks. Reservations are not required. For more information, call 775-882-8600.
