For the last 15 years, Carson City’s nonprofit ComputerCorps has offered Tech Camps for youths 10 to 15 years of age. The program has sent many students on to working with computers in business and schools.

Students at the Tech Camp have fun, learn about computer science and technology and even build a computer system for themselves or to donate to a local family in need.

Registration is now open for the three Tech Camps. Camp Alpha runs from June 15-26. Bravo is from July 13-24, and Camp Charlie is Aug. 3-14. Classes are from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Tech Camp fee is $350 for each two-week session and includes a complete computer system, camp shirt, hat and learning good for a lifetime. Some scholarships are offered.

The computers students will make are Internet ready dual core systems with Windows 7, LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse, sound, CDRW, speakers, games, Open Office and learning software.

Classes will be offered at the ComputerCorps offices at 550 Mallory Way, next to the Nevada Appeal.
