Gilbert Kay Strickland passed away peacefully on May 24, 2015 at Banner Churchill Hospital. Gil was born in Wichita, Kansas on November 24, 1937 to William and Hilda Strickland. Gil entered the US Navy after graduating from High school. He came to Fallon Air Station in 1960 with the military. He met the love of his life, Donna Trussell and they were married in 1961. He was sent to Midway Island where he

finished his tour of duty. Gill worked for Safeway when he was going to high school in Kansas and after he returned to Fallon from the Navy, he went to work for Safeway, here in Fallon, an occupation that spanned over 36 years, retiring in 1999 Gil was about his family, spending much time with his children and grandchildren, he was a loving, husband, father and grandfather. Gil was a life time member of the American Legion. Preceded in death by his parents, Gil is survived by his wife, Donna, daughter, Deborah Stewart; both of Fallon; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kelli Strickland of Elko; grandchildren, Jeremiah Austin; Nicole Strickland; Jenna Stewart; Hanna Stewart; great-grandchildren, Haiyden and Sylas Austin; brother, William Strickland; sisters, Mary Harris; Patricia Hopkins; Sheri Berg. The family wishes donations in Gil’s memory be sent to Epworth United Methodist Church 280 East Stillwater Street Fallon, NV 89406. A Celebration of Gil’s life will be held at 11 A M on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at The Gardens Chapel with inurnment to follow at Churchill County Cemetery.
