On behalf of the Carson City Host Lion’s Club, I would like to thank all those who helped to make the Tom Brooks Memorial Kid’s Fishing Day held on May 2 a huge success.

Approximately 130 kids and their parents/supervisors were provided an opportunity to fish with the assistance of members from the Carson Fly Fishing Club, Kid’s Fishing Derby, Nevada Department of Wildlife and Carson City Host Lions. Young anglers also got to try out archery with the Wild Sheep Foundation. Because of the many generous donors, all kids were provided with a T-shirt, bait, hooks and a fishing rod if they didn’t have one. There were also raffle prizes that included four beautiful bicycles.

Thank you to the following businesses and individuals for their generous donation:

Carson City Parks and Recreation; Carson City Tire Pros; Operation Game Thief; Carson High School students; Carson City Fire Department; Ormsby Sportsmen’s Association; CAL Ranch Stores; Carson Fly Fishing Club; Cart Barn; Dutch Bros. Coffee; Joe Young; Mayor Robert Crowell; Fast Signs; Kid’s Fishing Derby; Assemblyman PK O’Neill; Nevada Bighorns Unlimited; Nevada Department of Wildlife; United Site Services; Pizza Factory; Red’s Old 395 Grill; Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; Scheels Sports of Sparks; Skoosh Inc.; Brugo’s Bistro; River Wranglers; Tom Brooks Memorial Foundation; Northern Nevada Chapter of Safari Club International; The Bike Smith; Red Rock Dental; Chris Mackenzie of Allison Mackenzie law firm; Nevada Appeal; La Posada Real; Bodine’s Casino; Jim O’Banion’s Aspen Lakes Ranch; and to the Carson Capitals baseball program for providing the food and drink booth.

Thank you again for all the help to make this a successful event for our local kids. For more information about the Carson City Host Lion’s Club, see us on Facebook.
