Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 is hosting its annual Hoop Shoot, open to children ages 8-13 as of April 1, 2016, on Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
There is no cost to compete. Registration is at 9 a.m. on the day of the event, with the Hoop Shoot beginning at 10 a.m. Each contestant will shoot 25 free throws in his or her age category and each category. Tennis shoes are mandatory.
Winners will advance to the district competition in Reno on Jan. 16 at Wooster High School, followed by the state competition in Hawthorne, regionals in Las Vegas, and nationals in Chicago. For more information, call 775-882-2177.
