It is with great sorrow the family of Ralph Dean Sims had to say goodbye to their loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all. Ralph’s 68-year earthly journey came to a close on October 31st, at his home in Fallon, with his family at his side. Ralph was born in Salmon, Idaho on February 19th, 1947. He was the oldest of 5 children. He lived in Patterson, Idaho until 1957. At the age of 10, Ralph and his family moved to Empire, NV. Shortly thereafter, Ralph met the little girl next door, Joan Martin, whom became the love of his life. They were married in Empire on December 27th, 1966. Their friendship turned into a 49-year romance. Together they had three children, Clifford “Skeeter” Sims, Jeffrey Sims and Kimberly Sims. Ralph was drafted into the United States Army in 1966 where he served most of his time in Vietnam. Ralph had a long career as a heavy equipment mechanic and welder, working in the mining industry across the state of Nevada. In 1976 Ralph and his family moved to Churchill County where they raised their three children. Ralph enjoyed family, friends, the outdoors, camping, rock hunting, playing practical jokes, and telling wild funny stories. He also enjoyed sharing his magic tricks with everyone he encountered. Ralph appreciated the simple things in life. He loved to socialize with people, never having a harsh word to say. Ralph was well known for his sense of humor, kind heart, and trusting soul. Ralph was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Tiske. Ralph is survived by the loved ones in his life, wife Joan Sims, Son’s, Clifford “Skeeter” (Heather) Sims of Colville, WA, Jeffrey Sims of Fallon, NV and daughter Kimberly (Bruce) Hill of Fallon, NV. Grandchildren, Haylee & Hunter Hill, Taylor & Tannor Sims, Colby Sims, Lilly Pasquale and great grandson, Ryker Franklin. Father, Clifford Tiske, sister’s Charlotta Sullivan, Sue (Walley) Dumar, and brother’s Roy Tiske, and Robert (Jody) Tiske. Services will be held at The Gardens Funeral Home; 2949 Austin Highway, Fallon, NV on Friday, November 6th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at the Fallon Cemetery. Potluck to follow at the fellowship hall of the Fallon Seventh-day Adventist Church; 755 Esmeralda Street, in Fallon.
