Utah State rallies past Nevada 31-27, becomes bowl eligible

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Devante Mays ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns and Kyler Fackrell recovered a fumble in the end zone in the fourth quarter as Utah State became bowl eligible by scoring the final 24 points to beat Nevada 31-27 on Saturday.

James Butler, who had 139 yards on 17 carries, scored his second touchdown on the second play of the third quarter, a 60-yarder, to put the Wolf Pack up 27-7.

Mays scored on 5- and 2-yard runs to cap third quarter drives of 75 and 68 yards for the Aggies. After pinning Nevada on the 1-yard line, Utah State took the lead when Tyler Stewart couldn’t catch a shotgun snap in the end zone and Fackrell recovered with 6:55 to play.

Jake Thompson added a field goal with 35 seconds left.

Nevada scored first on a 25-yard Jordan Dobrich interception return but after Tyler Stewart’s 2-yard TD in the second quarter, Hunter Sharp returned a kickoff 96 yards for Utah State.

Coleman leads Nevada to overtime win against Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) — Marqueze Coleman scored 31 points including the go-ahead jumper with 1:22 left in the second overtime of Nevada’s 85-82 victory against Pacific on Saturday night.

Coleman had a career-best 34 points for Nevada (3-1) at Hawaii on Tuesday.

After his basket made it 83-82, Lindsey Drew picked Pacific’s Maleke Haynes with 54 seconds. AJ West grabbed the offensive rebound off Coleman’s missed jumper with 26 seconds. West made both free throws and Pacific (0-3) missed three 3-pointers in the final 18 seconds.

Ilias Theodorou made a 3-pointer for Pacific with 5 seconds left in the first overtime to force the second overtime.

Ray Bowles gave the Tigers a one-point lead with 32 seconds left in regulation and Lindsey Drew made 1 of 2 free throws for Nevada to leave it tied 65-all at the end of regulation.

T.J. Wallace scored 20 and Bowles added 19 to lead Pacific.
