The 27th annual Pinkerton Ballet Theatre production of The Nutcracker is coming to Carson City Friday through Sunday.

The classic Christmas tale features local dancers from Dayton, Carson City and Lake Tahoe, as well as professional dancers from multiple California dance companies. Nearly 60 dancers ranging from three years and older will be performing at the Carson City Community Center.

“It is the 27th year of this production, so it’s very exciting,” said volunteer Natalie Kiel. “It is a Christmas tradition.”

The dancers auditioned for the production in early fall and have been practicing since. The production had its first dress rehearsal Saturday, the first time all of the dancers have practiced together since the auditions.

“I am very excited to have all of these people working with us,” Kiel said. “It’s not just the local dancers, but we also hire out some fantastic professional dancers and put on a top notch production.”

In addition to the show’s dancers, some special members of the community will be starring in the show. Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury, Sheriff Ken Furlong and Justice Court Judge Thomas Armstrong will all be playing the role of Mother Gigone.

Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for general admission and $18 for students and seniors. To get tickets visit pinkertonballettheatre.org.
