The Salvation Army serving Carson City and Douglas County is seeking gifts for boys and girls during its annual holiday toy drive. Even with 82 locations around Carson City and Douglas County, Lt. Mark Cyr of the Salvation Army said teenagers are the most often overlooked population during holiday gift giving. Donations will be accepted until Dec. 16. Volunteers are also needed to work with families on distribution day, Dec. 22. Information can be found at www.carsoncitysalarmy.org, or by calling Christie at 775-887-9120. Donations can be dropped at Fingerprinting Express, 1958 E. William St., which is also collecting new coats for Carson High School’s McKinney-Vento Students in Transition program.

Capitol Police are accepting donations for Toys for Tots at the Capitol, the Governor’s Mansion, attorney general’s office, DMV and the Supreme Court through Dec. 16. Toys for Tots seeks toys through Dec. 24. It will be collecting toys at Walmart with the Marines of the Bridgeport Warfare Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Toys for Tots Hotline opens to families in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties on Dec. 1. If a family is in need of toys, call 775-737-1171 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
