Mrs. Eleanor D. Thompson suffered a stroke November 11 and died at Banner Churchill County Hospital. Born September 10th, 1935 in a tent on a sandbar just upriver from Council, Alaska, to Francis and Lily Walker, Eleanor, an Inupiaq Eskimo, married George Thompson of Ukiah, California, in Sitka, Alaska, on June 14, 1963. Living her entire life in Alaska, she moved her family to Spokane, Washington in late 1978 as her husband attended college.The family migrated again to Alaska in June, 1983 before Eleanor and George retired in Fallon, Nevada in the summer of 1993. She is survived by siblings Lillian Christensen, Francis Walker, Jr., Gladyce Williamson, and Stanley Walker, daughter Dolores Naponyak, Son George L. Thompson II and Grandson Luke Thompson. She was preceded in death by husband George Thompson, sister Sally Kinsley and daughter Mina Thompson.
