Iggbo, Inc., is targeting the Carson City health care community to match physicians and patients with professionals who draw blood for lab tests.

The Virginia-based firm said its business model was inspired by Uber, the on demand and shared economy ride service. The firm said in a news release it already operates in 27 cities and among those targeted for additional expansion are Carson City and Reno in Northern Nevada.

The firm in Richmond, Va., has an app physicians may use to provide phlebotomists who draw blood for laboratory tests with notification of potential appointments, sending them out for those professionals to follow up on or not, according to Iggbo. The company said it will enhance the number of blood draw orders for testing that get done.

“The appointment instantly goes out to a pool of available, qualified phlebotomists in Carson City who can instantly accept or decline,” the firm said. “The appointments can take place anywhere, from provider’s office to the patient’s home or workplace.”

The firm said nationally there are more than a billion blood draws annually with expectations they will rise by 17 percent.
