Survey results released Monday showed the pump price for gasoline at 1,130 outlets in Nevada dropped 3.4 cents in the past week.

The price dipped to an average of $2.83 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com, which completes the survey each week on Sunday. The website said that state price average compared with a national average of $2.26 per gallon, which represented a drop across the country in the past week of 5.4 cents per gallon.

In Carson City on Monday, GasBuddy’s local survey of 24 outlets showed the lowest pump price posted was $2.23 per gallon and the highest was $2.69 per gallon.

Across the state, Nevada prices were 48 cents a gallon lower than on Oct. 18 last year. Nationally, meanwhile, gasoline prices in this latest survey dropped in all but one state.

“Forty-nine of the nation’s 50 states saw gasoline prices falling an average of six cents per gallon during the last week,” said Patrick DeHaan, petroleum analyst with the website. He also said just 13.4 percent of the nation’s gas stations are selling at prices greater than $2.50 per gallon.

“The gasoline price environment remains vastly improved versus a year ago,” said DeHaan, adding nearly a quarter of the nation’s stations are even selling gas for under $2 a gallon. He said a year ago, 100 percent of gas stations surveyed were more than $2.50 a gallon.
