Both the boys and girls varsity cross country teams from Churchill County High School traveled to Folsom, Calif., to compete in the Bella Vista Invitational on Saturday.

There were over 289 high schools, and 2,400 athletes competing. This course is considered one of the more difficult courses in California due to a series of hills and rocky terrain. The boys competed in the Small School Division placing as a team, 10th out of 30 teams. They were lead by Tristen Thomson, who placed eighth out of 245 runners with a time of 16:38.

This places Thomson No. 2 in Northern Nevada, and No.4 in the State of Nevada. This was the second time for Thomson to run this course, and he improved his time by 38 seconds.

Thomson earned this ranking after defeating 238 runners from bigger schools throughout Nevada and California.
