Three Nevada photographers — including two from Fallon — and a photo taken in Washoe Valley were named Merit Award winners in RANGE magazine’s annual competition, Outback Roundup 2015.
Each Merit winner received the award and $50 cash. RANGE is an award-winning publication devoted to issues that affect America’s food producers.
Linda Hammond of Fallon was recognized for her photo of two burros in Churchill County, titled, “You Scratch Mine, I’ll Scratch Yours.”
Mark Hayward of Spring Creek, won for a close-up titled “Eagle Eyes,” an intense and arresting photo.
Sheree Jensen of Fallon took a photo of three raccoons and a cat perched on a tractor, which she called, “Taking over the Deere.”
A fourth image, taken by Debbie Bell of Clements, Calif., shows Kayla drinking out of a stock tank unaware a goat was nibbling at her clothes. The photo was taken in Washoe Valley.
According to RANGE Magazine, competition among photographers was stiff. There were entries from 19 states and almost 400 photos. Winners not only receive cash, recognition in the magazine, on the website and Facebook, but also are eligible for RANGE’s Real Buckaroo Calendar or for other special projects.
