Nevada railroad museum offering rides in Carson City

The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City will offer train rides featuring the famous Virginia & Truckee Steam Locomotive No. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Monday.

The steam train runs around the museum’s loop and takes approximately 30 minutes. In addition, visitors are invited to explore the museum’s interpretive center where the award-winning restoration of the 1875 Glenbrook steam locomotive and its companion. The Inyo tells the story of how the railroads were built and their role in the state’s development in the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum store also offers books, apparel and souvenirs for purchase. Refreshments will be available for purchase from the Warren Engine Company in front of the depot.

Train rides are $8 for adults, and $4 for members and children ages 4-11. The museum is at 2180 South Carson St. For information, contact (775) 687-6953 or check out http://museums.nevadaculture.org/nsrmcc.
