Ormsby House. Ormsby House owner appears before the Nevada Gaming Control Board to obtain an unlimited gaming license. Following a bankruptcy over two years ago, the resort reopened. The lack of a gaming license appears to have hurt the Ormsby House. It has been unable to make its full room tax or quarterly tax payments.

Sue Ballew is the daughter of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
