The Nevada Humane Society Board of Directors voted to relieve Chief Executive Officer Kevin Ryan of his duties after learning of recent traffic violations, according to a Nevada Humane Society press release.
Chief Operating Officer Denise Stevens takes over CEO functions while a nationwide search and decision on Ryan’s replacement gets underway.
“We are saddened about the unfortunate incidents that led to this decision but we have confidence in Stevens’ experience and ability and this will in no way impact the ability of the organization to continue its important lifesaving work in Washoe County and Carson City,” said Krys Bart, president of Nevada Humane Society Board of Directors.
Stevens has served as Nevada Humane Society’s COO for 8 years and has been involved in animal welfare since 2000. She served as shelter manager of the SPCA of Northern Nevada for two years prior to joining Nevada Humane Society.
Nevada Humane Society is a non-profit, charitable, no-kill shelter creating a no-kill community. It works to find homes and provide care for homeless animals.
