Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., has joined three other senators in introducing legislation he said is going to make it easier for foreign tourists to visit the U.S.
“Current visa procedures make it unnecessarily difficult for tourists from many countries to visit the United States,” they said in a joint statement.
The bill is designed to shorten the waiting time for tourist visas and allow certain tourists to stay in the U.S. longer.
“In Nevada a strong travel industry means more jobs,” said Heller.
He said the impact of tourism in the state can’t be overstated.
“I am confident this bipartisan legislation will help welcome even more international tourists to our state and the entire nation,” he said.
Heller was joined in sponsoring the bill by fellow Republican Mike Lee of Utah and Democrats Chuck Schumer of New York and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.
