Carson City Consort Canzona seeks recorder players for May concerts

Consort Canzona, a group of instrumentalists and singers who specializes in early music, has openings for experienced soprano, alto, and tenor recorder players for performances on May 21 and 22 in Carson City.

Rehearsals are Monday evenings, 7-9 p.m. The instrumental group, including cello and harpsichord as well as recorders, alternates rehearsal locations weekly. Rehearsals with singers are at First Baptist Church, 1750 Mountain St. Rehearsals without singers are at a private home in Carson City.

Recorder players who are interested in joining the group are asked to email consortcanzona@gmail.com, or call the Carson City Symphony Association at 775-883-4154.

The next performances will be on Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22, in Carson City. The program, a Memorial Concert for Consort Canzona’s founder, Sharon Kientz, is directed by Gary Schwartz and features the Requiem in F minor by Heinrich F. Biber.
