A free chautauqua performance of Mary McNair Mathews, played by Anita Watson, is planned at 6 p.m. April 26 at St. Paul Episcopal Church, at the corner of F and Taylor streets in Virginia City.
The performance will focus on Mathews’ decade in Virginia City. Anita Watson earned her Ph.D. in history at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she also taught. She worked in the museum education field in Nevada and Minnesota, and published on the topics of Nevada’s women, medicine, and history.
