Home, garden and recreation-all in one place this weekend

The 16th Annual Home, Garden & Recreation Show will be held Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Fallon Convention Center.

The convention center is located at 100 Campus Way, and admission is a suggested donation of $1 per adult (parking included). You can call 775-432-4556 with questions.

“It’s a really nice thing for everyone to get out and about, and just learn and interact,” said Michelle Rogers from CC Communications.

Created by Soroptimist International of Fallon, the show’s vendors include home décor and improvement, garden beautification and recreational entertainment, local farm products, health and beauty, technology, jewelry, pets and much more.

Nonprofit organizations will be available to share information about their latest community projects including health care, family and animal services, wildlife efforts and museum events.

“We’re very excited about it,” said Churchill County Museum Director Dan Ingram. “We want to preview what the museum does in the community. Membership brochures will be there and images of our current temporary exhibits. And we want to remind people about our upcoming events.” The museum is hosting a ladies luncheon April 23 with a “Home on the Range” theme. They’re also partnering with the Fallon Theater to feature John Wayne’s last film “The Shootist.”

The event spans interests, from creating new outdoor spaces and meeting with local nurseries to checking out food and fashion booths. See about custom cabinetry and welding. Peruse home-made crafts. Find out how to improve your nutrition and fitness.

You can also meet with award-winning, multi-genre author Mary Jean Kelso, and CC Communications will be available to discuss fiber optic Internet service as well as their new gigabit offering.

Kids will enjoy chicken bingo and Ivy the Artist’s face-painting. Plus, animal-lovers will like the 4-H and Silver Dog Training Center displays.

Silver Dog Training Center’s Linda Curtright said, “I know (the show’s organizers) are a really fun group. They do a fun show. Lots of good people … This is my first time as a vendor but have gone in the past … We’ll be there with students and dogs to talk to the public about training dogs. And educate on the law, like with the Americans with Disabilities Act. We like getting out there and showing off our dogs.”

The Body Balance Wellness Center’s Dell Williams said, “The show has always been a nice one. We look forward to it. For us, if people are concerned about their natural health and wellness, we’ll have a combination of things.” The center will be on hand to discuss essential oils, preventative measures, modalities, detoxification and products such as ionic foot-baths and infrared saunas.
