German synthetic rubber will soon be put on the American market, the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey said today. The company had obtained American rights from its German originator.
The synthetic product, one of Germany’s most successful “ersatz” products, is made from petroleum gases, and is known as “buna” of which there are two types.
“Buna-N,” said to be superior to natural rubber in resistance to heat, abrasion, aging, and swelling in gasoline and oil, will be the only type produced at first, it was announced.
