Nevada Appeal at 150: Aug. 1909: Arlington Hotel to be first class

Changes are in store for Carson City’s Arlington Hotel.

Contracts have been let for the complete reconstruction of the building, the construction of an annex and changes in the properly that will make it one of the best hotels in the state.

Plans include the building of a brick annex two stories high, 90 feet deep, to front on Ormsby Street, the entire length of the block between Robinson and Spear streets. This building will contain rooms en suite, stream heat, hot and cold water, and all the conveniences of a first-class hostelry.

The main building is to be rebuilt as far as the wood work is concerned. The present brick and stone walls will be retained, but the rooms will be reconstructed, fitted with steam ahead, hot and cold water and baths.

Downstairs the dining room will be moved to the front of the building in the space formerly occupied by the Kelly establishment. The corner space will be made into a ladies dressing room with a glass front and elegantly fitted up. The office will be moved and across the stairway now in place will be a complete cafe dining room for day and night service.

The Arlington, when completed, will be equal in comfort to any hotel in Nevada, something the city has wanted for a good many years.
